LinkedIn: Anthony Dunleavy

Anthony William Dunleavy is a seasoned and well-regarded family law practitioner with over a decade of exclusive experience handling complex matrimonial matters across New Jersey. In 2025, Anthony joined Marotta Blazini Dunleavy as a partner, bringing with him a robust litigation background and a reputation for strategic advocacy in high-conflict divorce, custody, support, and post-judgment matters.
Anthony is known for his command of courtroom proceedings, having tried numerous matters in nearly every vicinage in the state, including Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Morris, Hudson, Union, Middlesex, Somerset, Ocean, Atlantic, Burlington, and Hunterdon counties. He has a particular strength in domestic violence litigation and regularly appears before judges on plenary hearings, pendente lite motions, and emergent applications.
Anthony is also deeply committed to giving back to the community. He has volunteered his time to provide pro bono legal services through JBWS, a private, confidential organization that supports all survivors of dating, domestic, and partner abuse – regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, income, religion, or ethnicity. Anthony’s work with JBWS reflects his belief that access to justice should never depend on one’s circumstances, and that advocacy is at its most powerful when used to protect and empower the most vulnerable.
A former member of the Aldona E. Appleton Family Law American Inn of Court, Anthony is deeply committed to professionalism and the ongoing mastery of his craft. He sharpened his courtroom skills at the prestigious National Family Law Trial Institute in Houston, Texas, an intensive program designed for seasoned litigators, and has completed 40 hours of court-approved mediation training, equipping him with the tools to advocate effectively both in and out of the courtroom.
Anthony’s excellence has been recognized by his peers: he was named a “Top 10 Under 40” Family Law Attorney by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys in 2019, 2020, and 2021, and he has repeatedly been selected as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star.”
Outside the courtroom, Anthony remains deeply committed to client-focused resolutions and brings a pragmatic, forward-thinking approach to family law disputes. He regularly attends the NJSBA Annual Meeting and Family Law Symposium in New Brunswick and has earned a reputation as a thoughtful, no-nonsense problem-solver among both clients and colleagues.
